Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and give us a little description about yourself?

Hi, my name is Sonia Sánchez. I’m 22 years old and I’m from Spain. I am a graduate in communication at university. Since I was little I have been interested in the world of music and dance, as well as the performing arts. Despite my shyness, I fight every day to face my insecurities and show my emotions through dance. I am a happy person, who enjoys each of my decisions. Friend of my friends and happy to meet new people.

So how long are you a K-pop fan and how did you get introduced?

I’ve been a K-pop fan since 2017, although my first K-pop song was in 2012 with PSY’s song “Gangnam Style”. Although the group that I got into K-pop completely through was BTS with the song “DNA”.

Why do you love K-pop and what makes it different compared to other genre’s?

I like K-pop, because I think it offers something new and unique. Something completely new. Something that has managed to promote a culture for many people, something unknown. I call it ‘smart music’, you can find the typical songs with catchy choruses as deep songs with an unbelievable story behind. All this under a different and novel concept that makes a group or artist unique. In addition to how they take care of their fans and the attention they are given to them. This makes it identify itself as a differentiating style from the rest.

If you make K-pop related content could you tell us what you do and why?

In my case I dedicate myself to doing K-pop dance covers. Aside from liking this genre as well as its culture, I think K-pop dancing is helping me grow as a person and as a dancer. I learn by myself, without anyone. Little by little I discover new things and I gain more confidence in myself. It was thanks to BTS and K-pop that I started dancing again and I feel like I was born again.

Could you tell us your top 5 K-pop groups (in no particular order):

BTS, ATEEZ, Stray Kids, BLACKPINK and Mamamoo.

Out of those 5, if you had to pick a number 1, who would it be and why?

BTS would be my choice. Although it sounds crazy, but BTS motivated me to dance again and taught me the importance of perseverance to love myself. Their music inspires me, just like they inspire me. They are a role model and I can safely say that they are the group that has shaped my life. Although they do not know that I exist, I have much to be thankful for. I discovered them when I needed it most, their music appeared at the right time. Now I am learning to love myself.

Who’s your bias. Could you tell us your top 5 (in no particular order):

OT7 (BTS), Junho and San (Ateez), JinYoung (GOT7) and Bang Chan (Stray Kids).

If you had to pick a number 1 bias, who would it be and why?

I would choose the seven guys from BTS. If I have to choose one I think I would choose Tae, because I feel very compatible with him. I would also choose the seven hahah.

Imagine getting a wish granted, but it has to be K-pop related: could you tell us what your wish would be and why?

My wish would be to be a backup dancer for K-pop artists, as well as learn in academies across the country.

Let’s spread some love by giving a big shout out. Who would you like to give a shout out to and why?

I would like to greet all those dreamy, but intimidated people by the world who believe that they cannot make their dreams come true. To all those shy and innocent people who do not trust their potential, you can do it. I also want to thank all the people who support and love me, they are part of my personal growth and who I am today.

And last but not least: if you could change the world with just one positive message (it doesn’t have to be K-pop related), what would it be?

Never say never, the world is complicated but you can break with everything. Respect others but also respect yourself, but above all: love and believe in yourself a lot.
