K-Pop Fan Interview: Katja Kovic
Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and give us a little description about yourself?
Hi, my name is Katja and I’m from Zagreb, Croatia. It’s a small country in Europe. I am a dancer who loves K-pop, so I started doing dance covers that I post on Instagram. I am 18 years old and my favorite thing in the world is food. 🙂
So how long are you a K-pop fan and how did you get introduced?
I’ve been a K-pop fan since 2016, but I knew about it since Hyuna’s “Bubble Pop“. I was watching a reaction video (don’t remember who it was anymore) where they were reacting to songs and one of them was “Blood,Sweat and Tears” by BTS, that’s exactly when I fell in this hole called K-pop.
Why do you love K-pop and what makes it different compared to other genre’s?
The reason I love it so much is all the effort that is put into it and the variety of concepts and styles. Another reason is, because Kpop songs usually address an issue or a problem and I love that. And ofcourse: I love that almost every song has it’s choreography.
If you make K-pop related content could you tell us what you do and why?
I make K-pop dance covers that I post on Instagram (@k_posycovers). It is just for fun and as my creative outlet, because I can experiment with different styles, concepts and outfits. Also, that way I can show my talents and charms by doing what I love.
Could you tell us your top 5 K-pop groups (in no particular order):
BLACKPINK, BTS, Twice, NCT and Ateez.
Out of those 5, if you had to pick a number 1, who would it be and why?
If I had to pick number one, it would probably be Ateez, because I just fell in love with them and I’ve been supporting them since pre-debut. Honestly, this was such a hard question. I am very indecisive haha.
Who’s your bias. Could you tell us your top 5 (in no particular order):
Lisa, Jungkook, Jihyo, Mingi and Mark (Nct)
If you had to pick a number 1 bias, who would it be and why?
Ufff, that’s hard… maybe Jungkook (BTS), because he was my bias since getting into K-pop. So I kind of owe it to him.
Imagine getting a wish granted, but it has to be K-pop related: could you tell us what your wish would be and why?
My wish would be to be a backup dancer at a K-pop tour. Honesty, I love so many groups that I cannot say whose tour, but that would be my dream come true.
Let’s spread some love by giving a big shout out. Who would you like to give a shout out to and why?
I want to give a shoutout to Korea Croatia Events, an organization which organizes parties, karaoke, dance workshops and everything else related to Korea and Kpop. The people running it are very kind and friendly and always strive to give their best to every project they start. Love you guys!
And last but not least: if you could change the world with just one positive message (it doesn’t have to be K-pop related), what would it be?
Please, don’t shame other people just because they don’t like or look like you want them to. Everyone has its own preferences and ideas to live up to and you never know what’s someone is going through, so please let’s be kind to each other!
