K-Pop Fan Interview: Genesis

Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and give us a little description about yourself?

My name is Genesis, but everyone calls me Gene. I’m from Venezuela, I’m 18 and I love K-pop. I have been dancing for 12 years and I’m also the leader of a K-pop dance cover group called “GR Dancers“, who are initially the best I ever had♡.

So how long are you a K-pop fan and how did you get introduced?

I’m a K-poper since 3 years ago. On my Youtube playlist BTS’ “Not Today” started playing and that was literally it. I completely fell in love with them and they are the group that I have faithfully identified with. From there on I found many more bands and I got hooked on K-pop.

Why do you love K-pop and what makes it different compared to other genre’s?

K-pop is very different from the rest, they have so many new and mixed sounds, in addition to having incredible and very talented idols. In K-pop you feel comfortable, no matter where you come from or which language you speak, you can go in and see that what we usually say “we can’t use”, “speak” or other things, they make it a trend or a style… it’s great.

If you make K-pop related content could you tell us what you do and why?

In addition to being the leader of a group of K-pop covers and dances, I also upload individual content of this style to my own Instagram. I’m exploring more choreographies to share with others.

Could you tell us your top 5 K-pop groups (in no particular order):

BTS, The Boyz, Blackpink, Nu’est and TXT.

Out of those 5, if you had to pick a number 1, who would it be and why?

BTS: they are the first group that I followed and with which I identify the most. Their music is very comforting and they are really admirable people. I’m a good ARMY.

Who’s your bias. Could you tell us your top 5 (in no particular order):

V. (BTS), YoungHoon (The Boyz), Q. (The Boyz), Jennie (Blackpink) and MinHyun (Nu’est).

If you had to pick a number 1 bias, who would it be and why?

Definitely Kim Taehyung (V) of BTS. Because he has a very unique and cute personality. In addition to being aesthetically beautiful, he also has an AMAZING voice that makes me shake. I really admire him.

Imagine getting a wish granted, but it has to be K-pop related: could you tell us what your wish would be and why?

I wish I could dance on a BTS tour or choreograph a dance for them.

And last but not least: if you could change the world with just one positive message (it doesn’t have to be K-pop related), what would it be?

No matter the language, if not the message that any form of art can convey, be it dance, sing, draw, anything: You have to be yourself and express yourself regardless of the criticism of the external world. Always be yourself.
