K-Pop Fan Interview: Aiden
Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and give us a little description about yourself?
Hey I’m Aiden, I’m a K-pop fanboy / queer. I’m transgender and gay, BTS helped me to get out of the closet and that’s how I fell in the hole of K-pop.
So how long are you a K-pop fan and how did you get introduced?
I’ve been a fan since 2018 March. I had this friend which was blasting “BTS – Go Go“, I liked the sound, so I asked her who it was from. She said it was from this Korean band. After that I started to watch the “Ellen show” and the interviews they have been on and I instantly fell in love with them. My first bias was Jimin.
Why do you love K-pop and what makes it different compared to other genre’s?
I love it, because it has deeper meanings. I don’t like the pop where they just shame girls and tell that they are bad words. I don’t think females should be treated that way. In K-pop its mostly about self love and lessons, which helped me go through a lot of stuff. Ofcourse I don’t only listen to K-pop. I also listen to for example Yungblud, Queen, Billie Eilish and Melanie Martinez. All of them have lessons too, which helps me in life.
If you make K-pop related content could you tell us what you do and why?
I draw! I make fan arts and I’m working on bigger portraits. Drawing has been my passion since I was a kid, over time I got better and started to work with realism.
Could you tell us your top 5 K-pop groups (in no particular order):
BTS, GOT7, Stray Kids, Exo and Twice.
Out of those 5, if you had to pick a number 1, who would it be and why?
BTS. When I was in a dark state they really helped me to love myself and get out of that hole I had thrown myself in. Their music was my light.
Who’s your bias. Could you tell us your top 5 (in no particular order):
Well: ot7 (BTS), Jackson / ot7 (GOT7), Momo (Twice), Kai (Exo) and Hyunjin / Felix (Stray Kids).
If you had to pick a number 1 bias, who would it be and why?
I think it’s still everyone from BTS. If I’m sad I go to some BTS on crack and all of them make me laugh and feel so warm inside. I love them with all I have and they don’t fail to make me happy.
Imagine getting a wish granted, but it has to be K-pop related: could you tell us what your wish would be and why?
Tell BTS how they saved my life. They are the reason why I’m still a breathing person today. I know this will never happen, but I still have my hopes up.

To be honest I don’t know who to pick. I think everyone deserves one really. You should appreciate yourself more.
And last but not least: if you could change the world with just one positive message (it doesn’t have to be K-pop related), what would it be?
Just love yourself man. I’m working on it myself too.
