Dance Cover Showcase: Tiara

Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and why you have chosen this dance cover as your showcase?

I am Tiara and I am from Singapore. I chose “View by SHINee” as my showcase, because it is my favourite song from SHINee and coincidentally SHINee is back. So I was just excited to dance to it.

So how long did you have to study the choreography?

It took me about 30 minutes. I really wanted to get all the details and precision right.

How long does it normally take for you to memorize the choreography?

About 1 to 2 hours, because I tend to take breaks as my stamina isn’t that great. So I take a longer time to catch up.

What was the most difficult part of the choreography?

From 0.22 sec to 0.30 sec. The choreography had a lot of moves where I need to balance on one leg and it was difficult to make sure I didn’t fall.

Were you surprised that the choreography was easy / difficult and why?

I was surprised that it was difficult, because the moves are really simple and it looked easy. However, I do think that the small parts of isolations and balancing were difficult.

How did you come up with your outfit?

The song “View by SHINee” is very calming and fun, so I thought the pastel colors would suit it better and the color blue was a good match. I also wanted to follow the casual styling that SHINee themselves followed. So I wore a simple top and jeans.

Are there hidden bloopers / secrets in your dance cover?

I actually dance with a bluetooth earpiece on, but when I dance, sometimes it falls out. So i have to tape them around my ear with clear tape to make it not visible.

If you could give one positive message / advice to anyone out there who loves to do K-pop dance covers, what would it be?

Do what you want to do and not because of the hype, but because you truly enjoy what you do. And if people around you try to discourage you in anyway: show them that you don’t need their acknowledgement.

And last but not least: If you could give a shout out to another K-pop dancer, because people need to see their showcase. Who would you like to give a shoutout to and why?

@ycn.covers She is such a huge STAY and she truly just does dance covers of song she truly likes. You can tell that she is having fun and really enjoying herself. Her covers are always so powerful and strong.
