Dance Cover Showcase: Katja
Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and why you have chosen this dance cover as your showcase?
Hi, my name is Katja and I’m from Zagreb, Croatia. For my showcase I chose “More & More – Twice”, because despite how it looks, it is a REALLY hard choreography to learn and I am kinda proud of how it turned out.
(interview continues after the dance cover)
So how long did you have to study the choreography?
For this choreography specifically, I needed about 2 hours to finally feel comfortable dancing it.
How long does it normally take for you to memorize the choreography?
Depending on the choreography, but usually 1-2 hours. If I am learning a very hard choreography maybe 3 hours.
What was the most difficult part of the choreography?
For “More & More”, I would say the whole choreography haha. When you look at the moves individually they are not that hard, but add the speed and energy: BOOM you got yourself an exhausting and difficult choreography.
Were you surprised that the choreography was easy / difficult and why?
When I first saw the choreography I honestly didn’t think it was going to be that hard, but as I said before: I was wrong!
How did you come up with your outfit?
I come up with the outfit by comparing what idols are wearing in the music video or live performances, to what I have in my closet. If I don’t have anything that matches the vibe of the song, then I usually pick some random clothes that could match and throw them together. It often happens that it looks awful at first, but as soon as I make some changes, like tucking in a shirt and put on some accessories, it looks a lot better.
Are there hidden bloopers / secrets in your dance cover?
I have A LOT of bloopers when I’m filming. It’s usually just me forgetting the next move and spacing out or maybe me getting lost in the speed of the choreography.
If you could give one positive message / advice to anyone out there who loves to do K-pop dance covers, what would it be?
If you find a choreography hard at first, DO NOT quit! It is only hard at the beginning, so keep practicing until you are satisfied with how it looks. It gets easier the more you do it!
And last but not least: If you could give a shout out to another K-pop dancer, because people need to see their showcase. Who would you like to give a shoutout to and why?
Definitely my friend @tatjcovers.ph ! She is an AMAZING choreographer and dancer. She’s sooo talented! So please go check her out and enjoy at the talent that you’re going to see!
