K-Pop Fan Interview: Zamira Lanz
Could you tell us who you are, where you’re from and give us a little description about yourself?
Well, Hi! I’m Zamira Lanz. Known in the world of dance cover as DegTheZ and I’m from Venezuela. I am a makeup artist, dancer and part of the dance group The Beat Apart (TBA). I would describe myself as a happy, sympathetic, energetic person, with a huge passion for dancing and obviously a loyal K-pop lover.
So how long are you a K-pop fan and how did you get introduced?
It was at the end of 2016. I was watching a choreography of TT’s 1MILLION dance academy, TWICE’s recent song at that time, I liked its rhythm so much that I investigated about the group and I just couldn’t help but fall in love. By then BLACPINK and GOT7 were part of my life, and for 2017, groups like BTS, Mamamoo, Seventeen and many more came into my life.
Why do you love K-pop and what makes it different compared to other genre’s?
Basically because it is on another level! The choreographies, rhythms, music videos and costumes on the stage. It simply does not compare. The creativity and passion with which they dance is unique. They put together so many types of sounds and melodies to create unique songs and not to mention the incredible steps they create. It is simply spectacular
If you make K-pop related content could you tell us what you do and why?
I have always wanted to meet my idols one day and what better way than to recreate the wonderful things they do? I admit that K-pop is not my greatest strength, but dance cover is something that fascinates me. I love what I do and I love K-pop.
Could you tell us your top 5 K-pop groups (in no particular order):
BTS, BLACKPINK, Mamamoo, Stray Kids and A.C.E.
Out of those 5, if you had to pick a number 1, who would it be and why?
Without hesitation, BTS, because they are my biggest idols in the world. One day I wish I could see them face to face and thank them for helping me find what I love. For the beautiful art of their songs and for all their effort.
Who’s your bias. Could you tell us your top 5 (in no particular order):
Jimin (BTS), Lisa (BLACKPINK), Hwasa (Mamamoo), Hyunjin (Stray Kids) and B.K (A.C.E).
If you had to pick a number 1 bias, who would it be and why?
Jimin from BTS. He is the person who inspires me the most in this world. His incredible way of dancing, his spectacular voice, his great style and above all: his great heart. Someday I would like to become as great as him.
Imagine getting a wish granted, but it has to be K-pop related: could you tell us what your wish would be and why?
Being able to become an idol, is a dream that I always ask the heavens to fulfill. I am working hard and giving all my effort to do it. I know that it is something difficult to achieve, but everything in this life is possible.
Let’s spread some love by giving a big shout out. Who would you like to give a shout out to and why?
First of all, my TBA group! I love them and they are great companions. Also groups like MIX DANCE GROUP, Phoenix Dance and GR Dancers: I love them a lot, they are the best!
And last but not least: if you could change the world with just one positive message (it doesn’t have to be K-pop related), what would it be?
Never stop dreaming. Pursue your goals. No matter your race, gender, sex or beliefs. No matter the people who tell you that you cannot do it: We all have the right to be happy.
